GMC, DeWitt Receives Preliminary Accreditation From The Joint Commission
DEWITT, Iowa - Genesis Medical Center, DeWitt has been re-accredited by The Joint Commission for the next three years after a recent, successful survey.
Surveyors from The Joint Commission were at GMC, DeWitt recently for their unannounced evaluation. GMC, DeWitt has received preliminary accreditation and final accreditation is expected in the next two months.
Ted Rogalski, interim administrator of GMC, DeWitt, said surveys of The Joint Commission always require a team approach by hospital staff and management.
We performed extremely well in the survey. Collectively, staff, physicians and management impressed the surveyors with our commitment to excellence and the accountability that we have demonstrated in meeting the standards of the review,'' Rogalski said. "The reviewer specifically mentioned that this was one of the best organizations that he has surveyed during his eight years with The Joint Commission.
"I'm proud of the performance and response of our staff. This survey affirms that we are providing quality health care to our patients. Each individual played an important part in our overall success."
The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations has maintained performance-based standards and evaluated the quality and safety of health care organizations since 1951. The Joint Commission accredits and certifies more than 15,000 health care organizations and programs.
