Genesis Pro-Am Challenge Golfers Raise $76,800 For Foundation Projects
Hundreds more elementary school children in the region received seasonal influenza immunizations from the proceeds of the Genesis Pro-Am Challenge golf event.
The event on Aug. 31 at Davenport Country Club and TPC Deere Run raised $76,800. A total of 214 players and 53 area PGA professionals participated in the event.
The proceeds of $76,800 will benefited the Flu-Free Quad Cities project. This fall Genesis is providing free, voluntary flu protection to more than 80 elementary schools in the Quad Cities and in Clinton County.
Sick children and their families at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus will also benefit from the proceeds, which will be used to enhance patient care in the pediatrics unit at Illini.
Major sponsors of the Pro-Am Challenge were Lujack Lexus of the Quad Cities and Quad City Bank & Trust.
"It is very rewarding to be able to see the success of this event in a difficult economy,'' said Jim Watson, owner of Hanson Watson & Associates, co-chair of the event with Deni McCarter, manager of Genesis Occupational Health. "We want to publicly thank everyone who sponsored the event and participated.
"By taking part, many school children will be protected from the flu this winter, along with everyone they come in contact with.''
