Chick Flick-a-thon Raises Funds For Genesis Breast Health Services
Genesis Health System is offering a great day of entertainment for a great cause on Sunday, March 20 at the Adler Theatre.
Proceeds from Chick Flick-a-Thon -- suggested donation is $10 per person -- will be donated to the Kenneth H. McKay, M.D. Center for Breast Health to help provide breast health services to those who need financial assistance.
The featured films will be the "As Good As It Gets,'' at 2 p.m., "Mamma Mia!" at 4:30 p.m. and "What Women Want" at 7 p.m. Join us for one film, two, or all three.
"We never want anyone to neglect breast health because they are concerned about whether they can afford the services,'' said Missy Gowey, Executive Director, Genesis Foundations. "There is assistance available for anyone who seeks screening or needs other services or treatment.
"This event will be a lot of fun, but will also provide funds to help anyone who needs breast health services.''
"As Good As It Gets" (1997) is one of the most honored films of the 1990s. Helen Hunt and Jack Nicholson each won Best Actor Academy Awards for the story of the unlikely relationship between a single mother, a cranky and neurotic author and a gay artist.
"Mamma Mia!" (2008) is the story of a young bride-to-be who has never met her father. She invites three possible fathers to her wedding. The story is based on the music of the popular group ABBA. Cast includes Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and Amanda Seyfried.
"What Women Want" (2000) is the story of a business executive who is shocked in a household accident and discovers after the accident that he can hear what women are thinking. Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt star.
Academy Award winner Helen Hunt will be in the Quad Cities on March 25 to speak at a benefit event for Gilda's Club of the Quad Cities. Tickets to the noon lunch are available by calling (563) 326-7504.
