Haircuts For Hope Will Benefit Cancer Patients
A very personal gift can make a big difference in the lives of women with cancer.
By donating your long locks at Haircuts for Hope on Aug. 4 at the Genesis Cancer Care Institute, you will be helping provide real-hair wigs to women all over the country who have lost their hair during cancer treatment.
The public is invited to donate their hair to Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths Campaign. The event will be from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. in front of the Genesis Cancer Care Institute at Genesis Medical Center, West Central Park, Davenport.
Stylists from the Rave Hair Salon will be at the event to cut donated hair. Walk-ins are welcome. Every person who donates hair will receive a coupon for a discounted haircut at Rave. People who donate can then follow up with an appointment within the following two weeks to have their hair styled.
In order to make the most beautiful, realistic and durable wigs, donated hair must meet these requirements:
• Donated hair must be a minimum of 8 inches long (measure hair from just above the elastic band of the ponytail to the ends).
• Wavy/curly hair texture is fine — you may straighten hair to measure.
• Hair should be freshly washed and completely dry, without any styling products.
• Hair may be colored with vegetable dyes, rinses and semi-permanent dyes. It cannot be bleached, permanently colored or chemically treated.
• Hair may not be more than 5 percent gray.
