The ambulance staff will “Fill The Rig’’ to collect items for Winnie’s Place, a women and children’s shelter in Moline.

Illini ambulances and staff will be parked from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Jewel Food Store, 107 Avenue of the Cities, East Moline, and at the Wal-Mart SuperCenter, 1601 18th Ave., Silvis, to collect items and donations.

The shelter’s needs include non-perishable food items, paper products, personal hygiene items, cleaning products, kitchen items, bus passes and cash donations.

"This is one of the most rewarding ambulance runs we make all year,'' said Julie Irby, Genesis Illini Ambulance EMT and coordinator of the event. "The public response to this project has always been terrific. We hope to have the same support from the community on Saturday."
