Genesis Ambulance Providing Transfer Service in Mercer County
Genesis Ambulance Service is providing patient transfers from Genesis Medical Center, Aledo improving the continuity and quality of care to the region by facilitating an immediate transfer of patients requiring advanced care and services. The Genesis Ambulance Service will transport patients to any health care facility in the area according to physician direction and patient preference. The Genesis Ambulance Service has over 35 years of experience as a hospital-based service.
The service began on July 1st with an ambulance stationed at the hospital Monday through Friday from 10 am to 8 pm. After hours, the ambulance will be available as requested by hospital personnel. In case of life threatening situations, patients can be transported by air medical services as determined by physician staff within GMC-Aledo.
“Our patients and their families are our top priority. As a critical access hospital, it is imperative we offer safe and efficient transfer services to other facilities for advanced care. This new service will allow for faster transfer times, increasing patient safety and satisfaction,” commented Ted Rogalski, Administrator.
The service provided by Genesis enables the AMT ambulance service to remain in the local area for all 911 calls facilitating faster response times in emergency situations. “The new transfer service increases the availability of AMT to serve the emergent needs of the community which will improve the safety for all our residents,” said Rogalski.
Genesis ambulances are equipped with state–of-the-art technology offering higher quality of care and increased patient satisfaction and safety. Each ambulance is equipped with satellite tracking equipment enabling the immediate transmission of life-saving data to participating area hospitals while the ambulance is en route, critical for cardiac patients.
“We are very proud to be serving the Mercer County area. We look forward to being a strong partner in patient service and care,” said Mark Guthrie, Director.
In addition to transfer services, EMS personnel will assist with patient care in the emergency department and other areas within the hospital.
"The addition of the Genesis EMS personnel to assist with patient care during high census times will be of great value to our staff and we look forward to working with them to help our patients in critical medical situations," said Donna Wade, R.N., Manager, Emergency Department.
The Genesis ambulance service brings several new employment opportunities for Mercer County residents with EMT certification.
“We have four to six full or part-time EMT positions available at GMC-Aledo and we would like to invite EMTs who live in the Mercer County area to apply,” said Guthrie.
