Genesis CME Program Earns Accreditation With Commendation
The Genesis Health System Continuing Medical Education (CME) program has met the requirements for the accreditation with commendation designation as a recognized provider of CME activities.
The Iowa Medical Society (IMS) Committee on CME Accreditation has approved Genesis Health System as a CME provider for a period of six years.
Genesis CME is one of four programs in Iowa to receive accreditation.
“This accreditation means that our CME program has met the highest standards of compliance for continuing education of health professionals,’’ said Jody Johnston-Mohr, Medical Education Coordinator, Genesis Health System. “We have had so many guest speakers from well-known universities all over the country come to present for our physicians and care providers. They cannot believe the quality of our program and the participation of our physicians, and can see they take an active role in planning the activities.”
Dr. Frank Claudy is the chairman of the Genesis CME committee, which is composed of physicians, a pharmacist, quality department staff, librarians, and a nursing educator.
Continuing Medical Education programs allow health professionals to continue their learning by meeting with peers and keeping up with the newest treatment options available. In the United States, many states, including Iowa and Illinois, require CME for medical professionals to maintain their licenses.
The Genesis CME program will be accredited through 2019.
