Genesis Shootout Returns For 20th Year
The lineup of teams hasn’t always been the same and neither have the sponsors, but one of the highlight events of the high school sports calendar will return for the 20th edition on Dec. 21 at Augustana College.

“We think this is one of the great sports events in the Quad Cities and one of the best entertainment bargains,’’ said Ken Croken, vice president of corporate communications, Genesis Health System. “It’s a great family event and at $5 for the whole day, it’s very affordable.
“The Genesis Shootout is also an event that works for Genesis as a sponsor. Genesis cares for, and about, athletes of all ages. We offer a wide range of services to improve athletic performance and assist athletes in their recovery from injuries or surgery.’’
The Genesis Shootout has a rich history of showcasing the top prep basketball players in the region. This year’s event will continue the tradition with the return of college recruits C.J. Carr at Rock Island High School (Southern Illinois-Edwardsville) and Cole Clearman at Bettendorf (Missouri Western), plus a number of young, talented players with other teams in the Shootout.
