Genesis Health System Among Top 20 Percent For Patient Outcomes, Patient Safety
Genesis Health System has been designated among the top 20 percent of health systems analyzed for quality of patient care and safety of patient care by Truven Health Analytics.
The Truven Health Analytics fifth annual study identifying the 15 Top Health Systems reviewed clinical outcomes at more than 300 health systems across the country and picked the top 15 based on a composite score of eight measures of quality, patient perception of care, and efficiency.
Genesis Health System did not make the top five for small health systems -- less than $750 million in total operating expenses -- but did make the top 20 percent.
Truven reports that this year's top systems had better survival rates; fewer patient complications; better long-term outcomes; better adherence to accepted care protocols and patient-safety standards; and, shorter hospital stays.
"The most important aspect of this recognition is what it means to our patients,'' said Doug Cropper, President and CEO, Genesis Health System. "The independent evaluation is validation that Genesis delivers safe, high-quality patient care with outcomes better than most of our peers.''
