Golfing For Great Healthcare At Genesis

Every shot, good or bad, will benefit  Quad Cities health in the 21st annual Genesis Pro-Am Challenge on Aug. 31.

The Genesis Pro-Am Challenge will be played at TPC Deere Run, Silvis and Davenport Country,  Pleasant Valley. This year’s Title Sponsors are Lexus of Quad Cities and Quad City Bank & Trust.

Last year’s Genesis Pro-Am Challenge raised $128,000 to prove scholarships to students seeking futures in nursing and to current Genesis nurses seeking advanced degrees.  Patient outcomes improve significantly as educational level of patient care nurses increases. This year’s event proceeds will once again benefit the Genesis Nursing Scholarship Program.

Genesis Pro-Am Challenge foursomes will each be paired with a local PGA professional.

The entry fee of $250 includes golf with a local PGA Pro, greens and cart fees, course refreshments, entry gift, lunch, and, light hors d’oeuvres during the awards reception.

Pro-Am Challenge golfers will have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets to   win the golf experience vacation of a lifetime -- a trip for two to play in the Lexus Champions for Charity National Tournament,  Dec. 9-13.  The trip includes $1,000 toward airfare, pre-paid hotel, entry and golf fees.  Also included is a hospitality package, meals and three days of golf on Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill and The Links at Spanish Bay.  Each raffle ticket will be $50.  The drawing will take place at the awards ceremony of the Genesis Pro-Am Challenge at Davenport Country Club.  The winner does not need to be present to collect the prize.

Other awards, drawings and contests will include a three-year lease on a 2015 Lexus; a $10,000 putt-off; a GoPro 4 camera and door prizes at each course.

New to the Pro-Am this year are long-drive champions to help teams with their drives.  Mick Yelovich and Bobby Bradley, a former Pittsburgh Pirate, are former competitors in the REMAX World Long Drive Championships.  They will hit booming drives on the par-5 holes for teams, who will be playing for a golf trip to Whistling Straits in Wisconsin.

The Genesis Health Services Foundation has awarded more than $1 million in nursing scholarships to future and current Genesis nurses since 2002.
