Genesis Provides Ambulance Service  To Mercer County

Genesis Ambulance Service is the new provider for four fire protection districts in Mercer County.

Genesis officially took over the service as part of a new three-year contract awarded to Genesis Ambulance Service. The new agreement started Feb. 29.

The coverage area will include the Aledo, Greene Township, Joy and Seaton Fire Protection Districts. A Genesis ambulance, plus a backup ambulance with crew, will be available 24/7 to the communities served by the contract, which was put out for bid in January.

“This change will be beneficial for the residents of our communities by enhancing our continuum of care,’’ said Ted Rogalski, Administrator of Genesis Medical Center, Aledo. “The Genesis ambulance service will be based in our Emergency Department and work together with our care team.  Patients brought in through a call to 911 will receive seamless care.  Furthermore, we are all committed to our mission of providing  high quality, compassionate care to all those in need.”

“Patients will continue to receive the level of care most appropriate for their condition, whether that is at Genesis Medical Center, Aledo, or in the Quad Cities or Peoria.’’

Genesis Ambulance Service is one of the longest running and most experienced hospital-based services in Illinois. The service was formed in 1974.

“For more than 40 years, Genesis has been providing quality ambulance service with the highest trained staff, latest equipment and technology,’’ said Mark Guthrie, director of Genesis Ambulance Service. “Our relationships with hospitals throughout the region will benefit patient care.’’

Guthrie said he has interviewed more than a dozen local applicants from the Mercer County area for open EMT and paramedic positions and hopes to finalize hiring this week.

Genesis Ambulance Service provides service in Western Illinois to Aledo, East Moline, Silvis, Colona, Carbon Cliff, Hampton, Orion, Rapids City, Port Byron, Hillsdale, Cordova, Coal Valley and to Hammond Henry Hospital in Geneseo and Genesis Medical Center, Aledo.

The Genesis Ambulance Service fleet consists of 16 ambulances and a staff of 120. Positions are open and are listed at www.genesishealth.com/careers.
