Genesis Senior Living Open House Oct. 15
Genesis Senior Living, Aledo will host an open house and family day from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15.
The event will be an opportunity to tour and learn more about specialized memory care services to be available soon.
There will be a car show hosted by the Knuckle Busters Car Club and a lunch for residents and families.
Genesis Senior Living, Aledo is expanding memory care services in Mercer County and the Quad Cities with a new 16-bed unit opening soon.
Expanded memory care services at Genesis Senior Living, Aledo are a response to an increasing need for memory care not only in the region, but across the country. It is estimated that 3.4 million Americans have dementia. An additional 5.4 million people older than age 70 have some level of noticeable memory impairment.
Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive and degenerative brain disorder that can cause changes in both mental and physical function and can trigger behavioral health issues.
By contrast, dementia is a general, non-specific term for decline in cognitive function caused by a number of factors, including stroke and Parkinson’s disease.
The memory care unit at Genesis Senior Living, Aledo will provide a full program of care and activities designed to enhance social and motor skills for residents. A variety of family support services will also be available.
All of the rooms will be private accommodations and are newly remodeled.
As the U.S. population ages, the need for specialized care for people with Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders will continue to increase.
Genesis Senior Living, Aledo adjoins Genesis Medical Center, Aledo, giving memory care residents convenient access to hospital services, physician appointments and outpatient services when needed.
