Midwest Cardiovascular Research Foundation and Genesis Host Heart Failure Summit

Midwest Cardiovascular Research Foundation and Genesis Medical Center, Davenport will host the Heart Failure Summit 2016 on Feb. 25.

The multidisciplinary conference will be held at the Adler Health Education Center in the lower level of the Genesis Heart Institute, 1236 E. Rusholme Street, Davenport.

The free, half-day symposium will present a comprehensive update in various aspects of chronic and acute heart failure management and will focus on adhering to national guidelines.

“This symposium will bring together moderators and speakers who are experts in many new aspects of interventional and general cardiology,’’ said Conference Director Nicolas Shammas, MD, MS, president and research director of the Midwest Cardiovascular Research Foundation, Davenport.  “The conference should be of interest to any health professionals who treat chronic and acute heart failure.’’

The conference is designed for general cardiologists, endovascular specialists, primary care providers, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, general medicine and cardiovascular nurses, technicians and nurse practitioner and physician assistant students.

Moderators will be Dr. Shammas, Vijayaraghavan Rajendran, MD, and Kelly Ann Light-Mcgroary, MD.

2:20-2:40 p.m. – Panel Discussion

3-3:20 p.m. – Monitoring Patients with Heart Failure: The CardioMEMS Device – Vijay Rajendran, MD.

3:20-3:40 p.m. – Advanced Heart Failure Management: Role of Mechanical Assist Device – Jay Bhama, MD.

3:40-4 p.m. – Management of Acute Cardiogenic Shock in the Cardiac Catheterization – Nicolas Shammas, MD, MS.

4-4:20 p.m. – Reducing Readmission for Heart Failure: What do we know so far – Jon Lemke, Ph.D.

4:20-4:40 p.m. – Panel discussion
