Genesis Health System Opening Convenient CareNow Clinic Inside West Locust Hy-Vee This Spring
Two of the region’s health and wellness leaders are working together to open a new health clinic in Davenport.
Genesis Health System and Hy-Vee, Inc. will soon open the first Genesis Convenient CareNow Clinic at the West Locust Hy-Vee, located at 2351 West Locust Street in Davenport.
Genesis Convenient CareNow will offer limited convenient and quick care for a list of minor illnesses. The clinic will have limited laboratory testing services. Genesis Convenient CareNow is not intended to replace patient visits to their primary care physician.
“This clinic is intended to improve access to care for patients with illnesses that can be treated appropriately in this setting,’’ explained Kurt Andersen, M.D., president of Genesis Health Group. “This project is between two organizations that already have a strong presence in local communities and focus every day on the health and wellness of the region.
“The health services available from Genesis Convenient CareNow will add a new level of care and complement the services that Hy-Vee is already offering in its stores, which include pharmacists and registered dietitians.’’
The Genesis Convenient CareNow clinic will treat patients ages 2 and older for conditions such as sore throat; earache; sinus conditions; cold and flu symptoms; bug bites; rash; cough; conjunctivitis (pink eye); and, adult female urinary tract infection.
Testing services available at Genesis Convenient CareNow will include rapid strep throat, pregnancy, blood sugar and seasonal influenza testing.
Chronic conditions are best managed by an individual’s primary care provider. More severe conditions can be managed in Genesis Convenient Care offices and Genesis Emergency Departments.
Genesis Convenient CareNow will be staffed by a physician assistant or nurse practitioner.
The clinic will be open from 7:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays.
Dr. Andersen said Genesis Health System will soon be announcing additional services to provide convenient, less-urgent care for patients, including access to telemedicine services.
