McKay Center for Breast Health and Genesis Imaging Centers Designated an Imaging Center of Excellence


The Kenneth H. McKay Center for Breast Health and Genesis Imaging Centers have been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

By awarding facilities the status of a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the ACR recognizes breast imaging centers earning accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast MRI and breast ultrasound (including ultrasound-guided breast biopsy).

The Genesis Imaging Centers and Kenneth H. McKay Center for Breast Health at Genesis have collaborated to achieve high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.

The ACR is a national professional organization serving more than 36,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.

“This designation means women who use the comprehensive services of Genesis Imaging and the Kenneth H. McKay Center for Breast Health
have peace-of-mind  knowing the program meets the highest standards for quality and safety,’’ said Susan Herman, RN, BSN, coordinator of the Kenneth H. McKay Center for Breast Health. “This is recognition for the high quality of care provided daily through our joint efforts.

“The message to patients is they can depend on us to provide a nationally recognized quality of care.”

The coordinated effort between the Kenneth H. McKay Center for Breast Health and Genesis Imaging Centers offers the latest diagnostic technology and treatment in the Quad Cities. 

The centers offer all diagnostic procedures and breast health specialists.  The team approach offers combined resources of radiologists, pathologists, surgeons, oncologists, psychologists, nurses, technologists and other support staff.

The Kenneth H. McKay, M.D. Center for Breast Health and Genesis Imaging Centers also utilize state-of-the-art imaging equipment and techniques to detect early signs of breast cancer in women.
