Seven Genesis Nurses Are Great Iowa Nurses

Seven nurses from throughout Genesis Health System are among the 100 Great Iowa Nurses for 2018.  The award recognizes nurses who have made a meaningful and lasting contribution to humanity and their profession and act as mentors to others.

The Genesis nurses earning recognition for 2018 are Krystal Jorgensen, RN, MSN, MHA, CNOR, manager, Surgical Speciality Unit; Karen Klundt, RN, OCN, Oncology Unit;  Debra Lundeen, RNC, Behavioral Health; Anita Noble, RN, CN3, CRRN, Rehabilitation Nursing Unit; Kassandra Pobanz, RNC, CBHN, Behavioral Health Unit; Anna Starcevich, RN, BSN, Care Coordination; and, Janet Stoefen, RN, MSN, FCN, nursing administration.

Each year, the 100 Great Iowa Nurses program asks patients, co-workers, friends, and family members to nominate outstanding nurses for recognition.  After undergoing a two-part review process, 100 Great Iowa Nurses are honored at an annual ceremony.

In addition to recognizing outstanding nurses, the 100 Great Iowa Nurses program also provides financial support to nursing students in MSN, DNP, or PhD. programs.  To ensure Iowa offers the best health care possible to its residents, scholarship recipients intend to work in Iowa after graduation.

Since 2005, 122 Genesis nurses have been recognized as 100 Great Iowa Nurses.

This year's 100 Great Iowa Nurses will be recognized on Sunday, May 6 at 3 p.m. at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines for the 14th annual celebration.  The 2018 honorees will gather with families, friends and colleagues, as well as past years' recipients, to be recognized for their outstanding careers and achievements.

“Genesis nurses are highly regarded and recognized for their work. We are proud that we work with truly great nurses and because of the excellent care they provide, our patients benefit,’’ said Jackie Anhalt, BS, RN, MS, MSN, NEA-BC, Vice President of Patient Services and Chief Nurse Executive, Genesis Health System. “Our nurses are consistently recognized on both a statewide and national basis.’’
