Genesis provides free medical interpretation for all patients and primary caregivers. We contract with multiple community partners to provide on-site interpreting services to our limited English proficiency patients. Although these patients may speak some English, they may prefer to receive their medical information in their primary language, to ensure understanding.
Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) is an additional service available in many of our locations. VRI provides on-demand video services for 27 languages, and is continuing to grow. This exciting technology will not replace our live interpreters, but will help us meet the unique needs of our limited English speaking patients and primary caregivers.
Telephone interpreting provides an additional level of availability to interpreters for over 200 languages. When a live or VRI interpreter is unavailable, telephone interpretation may be used so ensure accurate communication.
Many documents and forms are also available in additional languages, including Spanish, French, Vietnamese, and Burmese.
If a patient requires interpreter services, please let the nurse or any Genesis employee know, and we will make the necessarily arrangements.
