Genesis BirthCenter offers a continuum of services for parents expecting a baby, before, during and after delivery. We provide comprehensive classes and tours for expectant mothers, fathers and siblings, on topics like what to expect while pregnant, birthing choices, baby care and breast-feeding. At the time of birth, the physical and emotional needs of mothers are tended to by a supportive, experienced team of nurses, physicians and midwives.
Care and Support
The BirthCenter offers the warm ambiance of home; the amenities of a hotel; technology and tender-loving care from the medical experts who encourage families to take an active role in the birthing process.
After you have a positive home pregnancy test, call our office at (563)355-1853 to schedule your initial appointment. Your first OB appointment will be your interview appointment where you will meet with either a nurse or one of our Certified Nurse Midwives. During that visit, you will be asked to complete a genetic screening questionnaire which will help us evaluate your unborn baby. The nurse or midwife will go over all of our office policies and procedures, current pregnancy education, and they will get a thorough health history.
We would like to see you for your first appointment between 7-9 weeks gestation to be sure you are able to take advantage of the screening blood tests that are offered at “The Group.” Once you have decided to see either the Physicians or the Certified Nurse Midwives, we will make a follow up appointment with the provider about two weeks following the interview appointment. Then, we will schedule follow up visits at four week intervals and every 1-2 weeks during the last stages of pregnancy.
Deliveries take place at the beautiful Genesis BirthCenter, at 1227 East Rusholme Street, Davenport. Genesis offers the added security of an on-site neo-natal intensive care unit (NICU).

All-private, Large Patient Rooms
Serenity is evident the minute the elevators open to the 5th floor BirthCenter, where an inviting family waiting area welcomes visitors with soft lighting, attractive wood, comfortable furniture and a water wall that emits the soothing sounds of trickling water.
But it’s the all-private, larger patient rooms that win the most accolades from mothers.
Wood floors, lots of natural lighting, rocking chairs, wood armoires with TVs and DVD's, bedspreads and attractive window treatments make them seem more like a bedroom at home than a hospital room. Just like a hotel, private bathrooms have whirlpool tubs and blow dryers and lighting that compliments a new mother’s complexion.
Other amenities in the rooms can range from C.D. players; daybeds on which a support person can sleep; ample storage; and medical gas hookups “hidden” behind family-friendly pictures.
- The BirthCenter delivers 200 babies each month.
- 6 LDRP rooms (labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum)
- 8 LDR rooms (labor, delivery, recovery)

We're Here to Help Your Child
Although few prospective parents expect to need the services of an intensive care nursery, they can find comfort in Genesis’ Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, or NICU. Genesis BirthCenter's Level II Regional Neonatology Center offers advanced technology and developmental care for premature and acutely ill infants. The expert NICU team handles every situation with skill and compassion.
