Why Am I Taking It?
Arimidex is an anti-cancer drug that stops cell growth by interfering with the production of estrogen in the body. This drug is used to treat breast cancer.
What Side Effects May Occur?
You may experience some, all, or none of those listed. Most side effects do not last long. Tell the doctor or nurse about any that you notice. The information here does not include all possible side effects; others may occur. Please report any problems to your doctor.
General Side Effects
These side effects may lessen or disappear completely as your body becomes used to the medication.

Bone or muscle pain

Diarrhea

Dizziness

Dry mouth or stuffy nose

Hot flashes, skin rash or redness or sweating

Nausea or vomiting. This may lessen by taking the medicine with food and not on an empty stomach

Weight gain
Notify Your Doctor
If any of the following occur:

Chest pain or shortness of breath

Swelling of your feet or legs
-
Fever or chills or other signs of infection such as sore throat, pain with urination, cough

Unexpected heavy vaginal bleeding
How Do I Store This Medicine?
Special Notes

Try to take your medicine at the same time each day. This will help you to remember it.

If you forget to take a dose and it is still in the same day that you should have taken it, take a dose right away. If it is close to the time of the next dose, just skip the one that you missed. Do not double up on a dose of this medicine.

You should not plan to become pregnant while you are taking this medicine.
