How Is It Given?

Intravenous (vein)

Why Am I Taking It?

Zinecard is not an anticancer drug. Zinecard blocks the bad effects on the heart from the anticancer drug Adriamycin (Doxorubicin).

What Side Effects May Occur?

You may experience some, all, or none of those listed. Most side effects do not last long. Tell the doctor or nurse about any that you notice. The information here does not include all possible side effects; others may occur. Please report any problems to your doctor.

Low Blood Counts

• Zinecard may add to the low blood counts already caused by the chemotherapy drugs.
• Frequent blood count tests will be performed.

Pain at Injection Site

• Some patients have reported mild pain at the vein used for injecting the medication.
