The nationally recognized Genesis Diabetes Care Centers are a Recognized Program of the American Diabetes Association. To attain this recognition the centers must conform to rigorous program standards and demonstrate superior health outcomes. We are happy to report a 98% Patient Satisfaction score for those who have gone through the Diabetes Self Management Program.

The Diabetes Care Center in Iowa received national recognition as the Center of Excellence for Insulin Pump Therapy and Continuous Glucose Sensor Management by Medtronic MiniMed. The Regional Center for Diabetes Care of Iowa and Illinois is one of the largest pump centers in the Midwest for those individuals seeking intensive insulin management.

The highly awarded Genesis Diabetes Care Center of Iowa was founded over 20 years ago by the vision of Catherine Weideman, MD, CDE and Marsha Menke, MS, RN, CDE, CPT. Dr. Weideman has always been a leader in diabetes management and has developed many protocols and tools that she has shared with Genesis Health System and is a much sought after speaker. Marsha Menke one of our own Genesis Legend winners received the Gem Award from the American Dietetic Association, the Most Spirited Committee Member Award from the American Diabetes Association and was recognized as one of the Top 100 Great Iowa Nurses and. Her leadership and committed team of health professionals has helped make the Diabetes Care Centers the excellent programs they are. Two of the diabetes centers dietitians have received who received the Outstanding Dietitian Award: in Iowa - Ellen Hosch, RD, LD, CDE and in Illinois - Donna Sivertsen, RD, LDN, CDE.
