Patient care at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus is supported by a wide range of professional services departments.

Illini's Laboratory is located adjacent to the hospital in the Illini MedCentre. The Lab is accredited by the College of American Pathologists. Under the direction of two pathologists, lab technologists conduct tens of thousands of tests each year for both inpatients and outpatients. Using sophisticated automated instrumentation, they are able to perform evaluations quickly and with very small sample sizes.

Illini's Radiology Department offers services which are utilized not only in the diagnosis and treatment of injury or illness, but also in the obstetrical program, surgical department, and cardiology services. The department performs a wide variety of radiological exams, ultrasounds, CAT scans and nuclear imaging exams. Illini also has the availability of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), a mammography suite and a state of the art cardiac catheterization lab. Radiologists are on duty daily for interpreting films and conducting procedures.

The therapists and technicians in Illini's Cardiopulmonary Department perform diagnostic tests on the cardiac, respiratory and neurological systems. Tests include EEGs, EKGs, a variety of evoked potential studies, audiology, echocardiograms, cardiac stress testing, pulmonary function, allergy testing and more. Additionally, respiratory care is provided in the form of inhaled medications, chest physiotherapy and nicotine dependency intervention. The Cardiopulmonary Department also performs sleep studies in a sleep lab. Illini's new Neurodiagnostic Center and Sleep Lab is located in Building 3 at 1414 10th Street on the Illini Hospital campus.

Illini's Cardiac Rehabilitation program offers a three-phase program designed to rebuild heart muscle and strengthen cardiac function through education and monitored exercise. Beginning with inpatient education and limited physical exercise, the Cardiac Rehab program progresses on to an outpatient format for Phases 2 and 3 which feature monitored exercise in Illini's Fitness Center. This facility is located in the Larson Center and features computerized treadmills, Stairmasters, stationery bikes, free weights and more. Illini's Cardiac Rehabilitation program also offers a link to QC HeartBeats, an area support group and educational forum for people who have experienced heart disease.
