Gifts to the Genesis Health Services Foundation
Your gift to the Genesis Foundation is an investment in the health of our community.
Contributions to the Foundation provide for the compassionate care of Genesis Medical Center patients and support life-saving advances in medical research, technology and education.
We're able to offer exceptional care, along with comfort and hope to more than 100,000 patients every year. It's important to note that each individual receives the same compassionate care regardless of the ability to pay.
This is possible because we receive gifts of support from friends like you. The Genesis Health Services Foundation will graciously accept your contribution and direct it to the area of most significant need or to the programs and services where you feel your gift will make the greatest difference.
Charitable support has never been as important to Genesis as it is today. Even though we are the leading health care provider in our region, Genesis Medical Center is not immune to the challenges presented by insufficient reimbursement rates and times of economic downturn. Philanthropy allows us to rise above these challenges and continue to provide world-class care to our patients.
We invite you to be a partner in our progress by making your gift to the Genesis Foundation.
Ways to Give
Make an Online Contribution
Your support will make a significant difference in the lives of our patients. You may designate your contribution for the area of greatest need, or you may direct it to a specific initiative (e.g. oncology research, nursing scholarships), patient care area (e.g. cardiac care, pediatrics) or outreach program (e.g. VNA Hospice, care for the less fortunate).
The Genesis Foundation is a non-profit organization, so your gift is tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. There are several ways you can make a gift to the Foundation. For more information, please call our office at 563-421-6865.
Check or Credit Card
Please make your check payable to the Genesis Foundation and mail it to the following address:
Genesis Health Services Foundation

Any questions, please call our office at 563-421-6865 or download a Gift Reply Form to submit a credit card or check donation by mail.
Stocks/Securities
Donating stock is an excellent way to remember the Foundation. You may avoid capital gains tax by donating securities (individual stocks, bonds, mutual funds) and certain other types of property that have gained in value. With gifts of stock, you will receive an income tax charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the stock at the time of the gift.
Insurance Policies
If you have paid-up insurance that you no longer need, you can transfer the ownership and beneficiary designation to the Genesis Foundation. You will receive a charitable deduction for the cash value of the policy, and the policy has no income tax or estate tax implications for you.
Matching Gifts
Many companies will match employees' charitable contributions. To learn more and receive a matching gift form, contact your company's Human Resources Department.
Life Income Gifts
- Charitable Gift Annuity – you may transfer cash or property to the Foundation in exchange for a guaranteed fixed income for your life or a period of years.
- Charitable Remainder Trust – you may receive an income for life by establishing a CRT. You'll receive an income tax deduction for the charitable portion of your gift and avoid capital gains tax if you use an appreciated asset to fund the trust. There are two forms of charitable remainder trusts:
- Unitrust – pays you a set percentage of the trust’s value as determined each year.
- Annuity – pays a fixed dollar amount determined on the first day of the trust. If the value of the trust goes up or down, the payment stays the same.
Will
One of the easiest and most meaningful ways to impact the Foundation is to make a provision for it in your will. After providing for your loved ones, you may leave a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, a certain property, or the remainder of your estate to the Genesis Foundation.
By making a bequest to Genesis, you qualify for membership in the Genesis 100. When making a bequest, we encourage you to consult with your attorney and a member of our staff.
Create your Legacy
When you include the Genesis Health Services Foundation in your estate plan, you become a member of the Genesis 100. Bequests, charitable trusts, gifts of life insurance and gift annuities are options available to you for membership.
Genesis 100 members enjoy regular communication about Genesis Medical Center programs and services; receive invitations to preview new programs and to attend special events and seminars; receive priority parking privileges; enjoy discounted food service in the hospital cafeterias; and benefit from a host of other inpatient care services at Genesis Medical Center facilities.
Members are also publicly recognized, with permission, on a permanent donor display in the Philip D. and Henrietta B. Adler Health Education Center. In addition, a listing of Genesis 100 members is included in Generations, an annual donor recognition publication.
Most importantly, Genesis 100 members are creating a legacy of support that will allow Genesis Medical Center to provide the same compassionate, quality health services to future generations that we enjoy today.
Heart of Mercy Fund
The Heart of Mercy fund provides hope and health care for our community's less fortunate.
Individuals needing financial assistance for medical care, equipment, eye glasses, prescriptions, home care assistance and other medical needs where total funding is unavailable through other sources, and personal resources are not adequate may receive help from the Heart of Mercy Fund.
Your gift restricted to the Heart of Mercy Fund will make a life-changing difference to a Genesis patient and his or her family.
