Time Is Critical

Stroke is a medical emergency, requiring the same attention as a heart attack. A stroke can kill brain cells that control vital body functions. The longer you wait to seek medical treatment, the more brain cells may die. The most common cause of stroke is a blood clot in an artery of the brain. A current treatment - the clot dissolving drug TPA - must be given within three hours of the onset of stroke symptoms.
