Nurse Manager

Education:

RN, BSN- (MSN from Walden University will be completed in August 2014)

Years of Orthopedic  Experience:

10 months serving as the manager of the inpatient Orthopedic Unit

Genesis Experience:

I have been a Genesis RN for 19 years. I was an ED nurse for 13 years and served as the day shift Charge RN for much of that time.  I served as the GMC Davenport Patient Advocate for 3 years, and went on to become one of the core Lean Team Specialists overseeing process improvements in the Cardiac Cath Lab. My experience on the Lean team has enabled me to find ways to deliver care in a more efficient fashion, while providing the highest level of quality and customer service. After 1 year of service on the Lean team, I was approached about managing the Orthopedic Unit. There was no hesitation in my decision to accept this position. As the former Patient Advocate, I was very familiar with the reputation of excellence on this unit. The staff are a cohesive group and treat their patients and one another like family- truly impressive! As a new leader, I am often asked how I like my new role. I describe my experience on this unit as having walked into Heaven! The patients we serve and our staff are fantastic!

Favorite Part of the Day:

I love doing manager rounds. Spending time with our patients, families, and my Orthopedic team instantly lifts my spirits!
