A stay in the hospital can be a difficult experience for anyone, but here at Genesis we make every effort to make the experience as comfortable as possible for both our adult patients, as well as, our pediatric patients.

The Pediatric/Adult Surgical Unit on the East Rusholme Street campus has a long tradition of high-quality patient care.  Each room in the 16-bed unit is equipped with a VCR and a hide-a-bed for adult family members who wish to stay overnight.  One of the biggest strengths of this department is the wealth of experience. All told, Genesis has 331 years of RN experience working on the floor. Not bad for a staff of only 21 nurses. The CNAs have 25 years between them. 

Illini realizes that children have special needs. From the colorful rooms to the special play area and bedside toys, Illini's Pediatrics Department is designed to make a child's hospitalization more comfortable.  To help children prepare for an upcoming surgery, the Pediatric staff conducts special pre-op tours. The tour helps put children more at ease and better prepares them for their hospital experience.
