Treatment

Outpatient physical and occupational therapy is available for patients who have moderate to severe physical limitations and who can travel to receive care.  Musculoskeletal and neurological dysfunctions, soft tissue, sports medicine, women's health, fibromyalgia and work related injuries are the most frequent ailments referred to Crow Valley Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine Clinic.

Other ailments commonly treated in an outpatient setting include:

  • Spinal dysfunction
  • Chronic pain
  • Pain from motor vehicle accidents or other trauma
  • Cumulative trauma disorders such as carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Hand injuries, surgeries or splinting needs
  • Joint replacement and revisions, (Most common total hip or knee surgeries)
  • Nerve injuries
  • Amputations
  • Sprains and strains
  • Soft tissue disorders
  • Vestibular disorders (Dizziness)
  • Rotator cuff repair
  • Post operative care
  • Fractures

To meet our goal Genesis Physical Rehabilitation at Crow Valley provides our patients with the most up-to-date therapeutic services and help the patient return to either their prior level of functioning or to increase their current level of functioning. The center provides outpatient physical therapy, outpatient occupational therapy, and Power Sports Performance (PSP). All therapy services are provided by highly educated physical therapists, occupational therapists, and physical therapist assistants.  All of our therapists stay abreast of the latest techniques and technology in their respective fields by regularly attending continuing education courses.  The therapists are supported by a friendly staff of administrative assistants.

Kathryn Ellsworth, PT, OCS

Kathryn Ellsworth, PT, OCS

Title: Physical Therapist and Clinic Supervisor for Crow Valley and King Plaza

School and Year of Graduation: Buena Vista College 1995; St. Ambrose University MPT 1998

Specialization/Certification: Kathryn earned her Board Certification in Orthopedics from the American Physical Therapy Association in 2006 and is currently completing her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at St. Ambrose University. Kathryn is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association, including the Orthopedic section of the APTA.

Community/Recreational Activities: Kathryn grew up in Knoxville, Iowa and now resides in Blue Grass, Iowa with her husband and three boys. She enjoys spending her free time with her family, bicycling, camping and traveling.

Karl Stratman, PT

Title: Physical Therapist

School and Year of Graduation: Truman State University BS in Exercise Science 1993; St. Ambrose University MPT 1997.

Specialization/Certification: Karl is in his 13th year as a physical therapist. Karl enjoys working with all types of orthopedic conditions and has special interest in the shoulder and throwing related injuries.

Community/Recreational Activities: Karl resides in Davenport with his wife of 15 years, Jennifer and their three children: Lindsay, 10, Jessica, 8 and J.J., 7. Karl enjoys golfing and he used to enjoy watching the Cubs.

Wendy Volkert, MPT

Title: Physical Therapist

School and Year of Graduation: Clark College MPT, 2001

Specialization/Certification: Wendy began her career working for Genesis Medical Center rotating among several inpatient departments to develop a sound base for acute medical conditions. Wendy then transitioned to an outpatient physical therapy setting and has worked for the past 6 years in North Carolina, Georgia and Iowa. Wendy enjoys working with individuals of all ages and backgrounds with orthopedic and neurological disabilities.

Jay Richard, PT, MPT, OCS

Jay Richard, PT, MPT, OCS

Title: Physical Therapist

School and Year of Graduation: The University of Iowa MPT, 1993.

Specialization/Certification: Jay is currently practicing at Genesis Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine at Crow Valley. Jay earned the designation of Orthopedic Clinical specialist in 2006. He has been practicing in the outpatient orthopedic environment for 17 years. Jay specializes in treating clients with orthopedic problems, sports injuries, and post surgical cases to include the evidence-based treatment and management of patients with injury or pain in all areas of the spine.

Justin Hillebrand, DPT

Title: Physical Therapist

School and Year of Graduation: Loras College, 2007 BA in Sports Science; Clark College DPT

Community/Recreational Activities: Justin was born and raised in Dyersville, IA and currently live in Bettendorf, IA. When not working at Genesis, I enjoy spending time out in nature either hunting or fishing. Other hobbies of mine include attending classic rock concerts and enjoying Hawkeye football.

Title: Physical Therapist

School and Year of Graduation: University of Montana, BS in Physical Therapy, 1987

Specialization/Certification: Amy has worked in all types of settings including acute care, neuro-rehab, home health, nursing home and outpatient.  She enjoys working with upper quarter disorders and vestibular rehab.

Community/Recreation Activities: Amy is married to her husband, Jeff, and she has two children, Kiana and Kyler.  She enjoys swimming, bicycling, running and motivating others to achieve their goals.

Bridget Blunk, PT, MSPT, OCS

School and Year of Graduation: Augustana College, BA in Biology and Spanish, 1999; Washington University in St. Louis, Masters of Science in Physical Therapy, 2001

Specialization/Certification: Bridget earned her Board Certification in Orthopeadics from the American Physical Therapy Association in 2009.  She is an active member in the American Physical Therapy Association, participating locally in the Iowa Chapter's southwest district and nationally as a member in the orthopeadic section.

Community/Recreational Activities: Bridget was raised in Edgington, Illinois.  She now lives in Bettendorf, Iowa, with her husband, Richard, and her two sons, Alex and Sam.  She enjoys spending time with her family, going to local events, bicycling, and hiking.

Dana Taylor, ATC

Title: Athletic Trainer

School and Year of Graduation: Iowa State University with a Bachelor Degree in Health and Human Performance and completed the CATTE accredited athletic training program in 2010.

Specialization/Certification:

Dana was an academic Big 12 conference selection in track and cross country for three years. She is currently working for Genesis Physical Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine at Crow Valley. Dana enjoys working with athletes of all ages.

Community/Recreational Activities: Dana is originally from Minnesota but now resides in Davenport, IA with her husband.

Mark Pischke OTR/L, CHT

Mark Pischke OTR/L, CHT

Title: Occupational Therapist

School and Year of Graduation: St. Ambrose University, 2001 and OT in 2003

Specialization/Certification: Mark became a Board Certified Hand Therapist and has been practicing in orthopedic hand and upper extremity rehabilitation. Mark is certified in the ASTYM system and enjoys treating all cumulative trauma disorders and surgical repairs of the hand and wrist.

Community/Recreational Activities: Outside of work, Mark enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family.

Kerri Johnson OTR/L, CHT

Kerri JohnsonTitle: Occupational Therapist

School and Year of Graduation: St. Ambrose University, 1994 BS in Occupational Therapy with a minor in Psychology.

Specialization/Certification: She obtained her certification as Certified Hand Therapist in 2005. Kerri is an active member in ASHT.

Community/Recreational Activities: Kerri is from Davenport, IA and resides in Davenport with her husband, son, and 2 dogs. She enjoys spending time with her family, running, volleyball, spin class, and traveling.

School and Year of Graduation: St. Ambrose University, 2001 BS; Black Hawk College, PTA

Community/Recreational Activities: Mike grew up in Cherokee, Iowa and now lives in Davenport, Iowa with his wife and son. He enjoys spending time with family and friends and playing golf.
