Welcome to Genesis Physical Rehabilitation at Genesis Medical Center, Silvis. We specialize in offering programs that meet the needs of patients requiring physical, occupational and speech therapies. Hours

Hours: 7:30 to 5:00 Monday through Friday with additional hours arranged as needed.

Treatment

Outpatient therapy is available for patients who have moderate to severe physical limitations and who can travel to receive care. Back, shoulder, knee, hip injuries, soft tissue injuries, sports medicine, neurologic, fibromyalgia and work related injuries are the most frequent ailments referred to outpatient therapy.

Other ailments commonly treated in an outpatient setting include:

  • Spinal dysfunction
  • Chronic pain
  • Pain from motor vehicle accidents or other trauma
  • Cumulative trauma disorders such as carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Hand injuries, surgeries or splinting needs
  • Joint replacement and revisions (Most common total hip or knee)
  • Nerve injuries
  • Amputations
  • Neurological disorders
  • Soft tissue disorders
  • Vestibular disorders (Dizziness)
  • Speech disorders

To meet our goal Genesis Physical Rehabilitation at Silvis provides our patients with the most up-to-date therapeutic services and help the patient return to either their prior level of functioning or to increase their level of functioning. At Genesis Physical Rehabilitation, Silvis we provide Physical Rehabilitation for inpatients, outpatients and skilled care at Silvis Restorative Care Center. 

Silvis provides outpatient services at two locations: (1) GMC, Silvis and (2) Moline Two Rivers YMCA outpatient physical therapy, outpatient occupational therapy, outpatient speech therapy and Power Sports Performance (PSP)

Aquatic therapy is provided at our Moline location. All of the services are provided by highly educated physical therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapy assistants, occupational therapy assistants and speech therapists. All of our therapists stay abreast of the latest techniques and technology in their respective fields by regularly attending continuing education courses. The therapists are supported by a friendly staff of administrative assistants.

Staff

Carrie Knight, OTD, OTR/L

Title:  Occupational Therapist

School and Year of Graduation:  Creighton University, Doctorate in Occupational Therapy, 2007

Began at Genesis:  2011

Specialization/Certification:  Carrie provides treatment for patients in various settings, including inpatient, skilled nursing and outpatient. In addition, she enjoys working with children when the opportunity arises.

Community/Recreation Activities:  In her free time, Carrie enjoys playing soccer, the ukulele, and running.

Kristin Ryan, PT, DPT, CLT

Title:  Physical Therapist

School and Year of Graduation:  St. Ambrose University, Biology and Psychology, 2003; St. Ambrose University, DPT, 2004

Began at Genesis:  2011

Specialization/Certification:  Kristin practiced physical therapy in Chicago for seven years, and after moving to the Quad Cities she joined the Genesis Team in December 2011. Currently, she is working part-time in Outpatient Rehabilitation at Silvis and covering IP at Genesis West. In addition, she is teaching in the PTA program at Blackhawk. Kristin has worked as a spinal cord injury specialist and helped develop a Cancer Rehab Program within RIC/Northwestern University. She received a lymphedema certification in June 2012. She has a special interest in the neurological setting in addition to the wheelchair seating clinic.

Community/Recreational Activities:  Kristin enjoys traveling, running, biking, playing sand volleyball and spending time with her niece and nephew. She moved to Davenport with her husband, and both are enjoying the adventures of their new city!

Melissa Baker, MS, CCC-SLP

Title: Speech and Language Pathologist

School and Year of Graduation: Indiana University, BS, 1999; Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, MS, 2001

Specialization/Certification: Melissa has worked in a variety of settings, including inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient rehabilitation, and acute care. She has both adult and pediatric experience, and enjoys treating patients of all ages. 

Michelle Heitz, PT, DPT

Title: Physical Therapist

School and Year of Graduation: St Ambrose University, DPT, 2008

Began at Genesis:  2008

Specialization/Certifications: Michelle is certified in Neuro-Developmental Treatment. She specializes in facilitating techniques to improve the mobility of patients with neurological impairments. In addition, she obtained LSVT BIG certification which is specifically geared towards improving and maintaining the functional mobility of patients with Parkinson's Disease.

Community/Recreational Activities: Michelle enjoys spending time with family and friends in her free time.

Treva Haney, MOTR/L, CLT

Title:  Occupational Therapist

School and Year of Graduation: St. Ambrose University, 2001

Began at Genesis: 2008

Specialization/Certification: Treva has been in the outpatient therapy setting at Silvis since 2008. She enjoys working with upper extremity orthopedic patients, but also has experience working with patients with neurological impairments. She also assists in providing occupational therapy services to patients in the hospital and at Illini Restorative Care. Treva became a certified lymphedema therapist in February 2011 and enjoys working with lymphedema patients as well. 

Community/Recreational Activities: Treva enjoys spending time with her partner, daughter and dog. When Treva isn't at work you can find her often baking gourmet cupcakes or behind a digital camera shooting pictures.
