PACS-Picture Archiving and Communication System

pacssystemA Picture Archive Communication System, or PACS, is part of the Genesis Health System computer network.   The GHS PACS system captures, displays and stores digital imaging studies completed in the Diagnostic Imaging department.  Diagnostic Imaging is also referred to as radiology.

After an imaging procedure is completed, the images are available for review via our PACS, thru the secure computer network. A Radiologist reviews the images and dictates a report for your healthcare provider.  The images and the report are available to your provider from any secured location.

Why PACS?

GHS imaging departments are filmless radiology departments. All imaging studies completed at any GHS site are viewed and stored on one PACS system.

Radiology studies from other health care facilities can be stored to the GHS PACS system.  Outside films, CD's and paper documents can be imported to the PACS system.

Using just one system to review all patients radiology studies, healthcare providers are able to access information in a timely and efficient manner from any network secured location.
