The Genesis Center for Weight Management is the region's only Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence, as recognized by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). What sets the Genesis program apart is the continuum of care provided to patients, from introductory classes to pre- and post-surgical consultations with a variety of specialists and ongoing psychological counseling.
Weight Loss Options
The Genesis Center for Weight Management offers patients a variety of surgical and non-surgical weight loss options, including OPTIFAST® and minimally invasive Smart Care procedures:
Roux-en-Y gastric bypass: The most widely performed surgical procedure for weight loss.
Animation: Gastric Bypass Roux-en-Y.
LAP-BAND®: One of the least invasive procedures, which limits food intake.
Sleeve gastrectomy: One of the newest procedures, in which a portion of the stomach is removed
Liposuction: A method for reducing fat from a specific area of the body

Qualifying for Surgery
The goal of bariatric surgery is to induce and maintain permanent loss of a least half of the preoperative excess body weight, improving health and reducing weight-related health risks. Only patients who meet strict pre-surgery criteria are scheduled for surgery.
