He was the Director of the Special Care Unit at Fairchild Air Force Base Hospital in Spokane, Washington, and an Instructor in Medicine for the Uniformed Services at the University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. In 1990, he became the Medical Director for the Coronary Care Unit at U.S.A.F. Medical Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.
Dr. Coyne is a fellow in the American College of Physicians and the American College of Cardiology. His professional memberships include the Iowa Medical Society, the Scott County Medical Society, and the American Medical Association.
He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology.
