Be a Healthier You in 2016

By Tina, professional, wife, mom, and bariatric patient

"I spent years excusing and denying, but I finally acknowledged my truth: I was overweight."

Plan to be a healthier you in 2016If you’re like the majority of people out there, losing weight is at the top of your list at the start of each New Year. You tell yourself you'll start after the holidays and you gear up for Jan. 1, indulging in big meals and sugary treats throughout November and December.

Before you know it that day arrives and you are forced face reality. You ask yourself how you possibly let yourself put on all those extra pounds over the years. Or perhaps you're in denial about the number you see on the scale, because it definitely doesn't match the image you see in the mirror.

Or, you know you’re overweight and make excuses as to why you can’t get lean and healthy: you’re too busy, you don’t have the willpower, you’ve tried every diet out there and nothing works, you can’t stick with it anyway, you’re destined to be overweight, etc.

A Final Resolution

Bariatric Blogger TinaLike you, I had these feelings for a very long time. I spent years excusing and denying, but I finally acknowledged my truth: I was overweight. I felt unhappy. I was getting increasingly unhealthy. I was not in control of ME.

When I made the choice to have weight loss surgery, I knew it was the best option for my situation. It wasn’t a decision made lightly and easily. And now that I’m a few months past the one-year mark and maintaining a healthy, normal weight, (even through the holidays!) I reflect and recognize what a gift this tool has truly been in my life.

It’s time to take control of your life and health - for yourself and for those who love you. You deserve to lead an active, healthy life. Take control before your body starts paying the price through diabetes and other health problems.

Consider attending an informational seminar to learn more about what weight loss surgery and the Genesis Center for Weight Management can do for you. You’ll learn that it’s possible to get to a healthy weight, and Genesis will partner with you every step of the way to good health. Dr. Aanestad and his staff have been by my side over the past year, and I look forward to continuing my journey with them.

Make your resolution to lose weight in 2016 a reality. Happy New Year!
