Interim Vice President, Legal Affairs, and Chief Compliance & Enterprise Risk Officer, Genesis Health System

Areas of Responsibility: Manages all legal affairs for the health system and its affiliates. That includes providing legal counsel and advice to the Board of Directors and/or senior management on topics/issues including: governance and nonprofit tax exemption regulations; litigation; medical affairs; physician arrangements; contracts; property management; employment law; risk management; and business opportunities and collaborations with external entities.

Implements and administers the Genesis Health System Compliance and Ethics Program and Enterprise Risk Management, including system-wide training in compliance and ethics, internal compliance auditing and monitoring, review and investigations of reports of non-compliance and regular updates to the Genesis Health System Board of Directors.

Bio: Wagher joined Genesis as Chief Compliance and Enterprise Risk Officer in July 2012. He added interim responsibility for Legal Affairs in January 2015. Prior to joining Genesis, he held a number of executive positions over an 11-year-period at Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Mo., including serving as Senior Vice President for Quality & Compliance/General Counsel. Wagher also provided healthcare regulatory consulting services over an 8-year-period, including speaking at national association meetings, while with firms in Atlanta, Ga., and Joliet, Ill. Wagher holds bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.

Wagher lives in Coal Valley, Ill., with his wife Vaishali and their three children, and is an active member of the Davenport Host Lions Club.
