Lung Cancer

Lung Cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer at Genesis Medical Center. Consistent with both Iowa and national statistics, more than 75% of the patients are diagnosed with advanced stages of lung cancer. Today's good news is: early detection, diagnosis and prompt treatment increase the odds of survival.

The diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer involves many different medical specialties. Besides your own Family Practice or Internal Medicine physician, the other physicians that may become involved are: Pulmonologist, Thoracic Surgeon, Radiologist, Medical Oncologist, and Radiation Oncologist. One key focus is education of both the general community and the health care community about the importance of early detection and intervention. We are actively involved in the prevention and cessation of smoking in our community and are members of Tobacco Free QC.
