Helping children develop lifelong fitness and wellness habits
Nearly 20 percent of children are obese. Often enough, a lack of exercise and proper nutrition are the top contributors. Children ages 7-18 are encouraged to exercise five days a week for 60 minutes at a time.
Prescription Fitness Can Help
Guided by Genesis Physical Therapists, the goal of Prescription Fitness is to teach children how to effectively and safely exercise, make healthy food choice, and build healthy lifelong habits.
The program is once-a-week for six weeks and will strengthen the following:
- Cardiovascular endurance
- Coordination, balance and flexibility
- Making healthy food choices
An Individualized Plan for Your Child
Your child will be evaluated for pre and post test measurements prior to beginning the six-week program including height, weight, BMI, six-minute walk tests, range of motion and a balance test.
An individualized exercise plan and diet guidelines to continue at home will be provided by a licensed physical therapist.
By the end of the 6-week program, your child will be on the path to maintaining a healthier lifestyle through exercise and healthy food choices.
Prescription Fitness is covered by most insurance plans. To find out when the next 6-week session begins, call 563-421-3497.
