Welcome to Genesis Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine at 53rd and Eastern, a center for orthopedic excellence. Our new state of the art facility is designed to allow the therapist to deliver the most up to date physical and occupational therapy to all individuals. The center features tools such as an underwater treadmill, indoor pitching mound, and track running lanes to help patients return to their prior level of functioning or to increase their current level of performance.

Treatment

At Genesis Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine, therapist deliver specialized, one on one care for patients with muscle, tendon, ligament, joint injury or pain as well as post surgical recovery. All therapy services are provided by highly skilled physical and occupational therapists, physical therapist assistants, and athletic trainers. All of our therapists stay abreast of the latest techniques and technology by regularly attending continuing education courses focused on their area of specialty. As a center for orthopedic excellence many of our therapists are certified orthopedic specialists. Therapists have focused education in the treatment of all orthopedic conditions as well as the safe, accelerated, sport-specific rehab of the athlete to return to competition. The therapists are supported by a friendly staff of administrative assistants.

Kathryn Ellsworth, PT, OCSKathryn Ellsworth, PT, DPT, OCS

Title:  Physical Therapist and Clinic Supervisor

School and Year of Graduation:  Buena Vista College, 1995; St. Ambrose University, MPT, 1998; St. Ambrose University, DPT, 2012

Specialization/Certification:  Kathryn earned her Board Certification in Orthopedics from the American Physical Therapy Association in 2006 and completed her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at St. Ambrose University in 2012. She enjoys working with all types of orthopedic conditions and has special interest in assisting injured workers and athletes of all ages to successfully obtain their goals. She is also a Sportsmetrics™ certified trainer of the clinically proven ACL injury prevention training and return to play program. Kathryn is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association, including the Orthopedic section of the APTA.

Community/Recreational Activities:  Kathryn grew up in Knoxville, Iowa, and now resides in Davenport, Iowa, with her three boys. She enjoys spending her free time with her family, bicycling, camping, traveling, and playing volleyball.

Amy Castro, PTAmy Castro, PT

Title:  Physical Therapist

School and Year of Graduation:  University of Montana, BS in Physical Therapy, 1987

Specialization/Certification:  Amy has worked in various types of rehab settings including acute care, neuro-rehab, home health, nursing home and outpatient orthopedic. Amy enjoys working with all types of orthopedic conditions, with areas of special interest and expertise to include TMJ Dysfunction, headaches as well as patient with dizziness (vestibular rehab). She also brings personal experience and expertise in training the triathlete.

Community/Recreation Activities:  Amy resides in Bettendorf with her husband Jeff, and their two children, Kiana and Kyler. She enjoys swimming, bicycling, running and motivating others to achieve their goals.

Bridget Blunk, PT, OCSBridget Blunk, PT, OCS

Title:  Physical Therapist

School and Year of Graduation:  Augustana College, 1999; Washington University in St. Louis, MPT, 2001

Specialization/Certification:  Bridget earned her Board Certification in Orthopedics from the American Physical Therapy Association in 2009. She has many years of experience working as a physical therapist and specializes in utilizing manual therapy treatment techniques for the treatment of of orthopedic conditions and pathologies. She is an active member in the American Physical Therapy Association belonging to the Orthopedic Section.  She is also active in the Iowa Physical Theapy Association serving as the Iowa Chapter Membership Committee co-chair and serves on the Leadership Committee for Iowa's southeast District.

Community/Recreational Activities:  Bridget was raised in Edgington, Illinois, and now resides in Bettendorf with her husband, Richard, and her two sons, Alex and Sam. She enjoys spending time with her family, going to local events, bicycling, and hiking. 

Jay Richard, PT, MPT, OCSJay Richard, PT, MPT, OCS

Title:  Physical Therapist

School and Year of Graduation:  Iowa State University, 1991; University of Iowa, MPT, 1993

Specialization/Certification:  Jay earned his Board Certification in Orthopedics from the American Physical Therapy Association in 2006. Jay has many years of experience working as a physical therapist and specializes in treating clients with orthopedic injuries and post surgery recovery. He enjoys working with all types of orthopedic conditions. He has a special interest and expertise in working with athletes of all levels. Jay also has focused training in treating the runner, to include video analysis to assist in their rehab and improve their performance.

Community/Recreational Activities:  Jay lives in Bettendorf with his wife, son, and two dogs. He enjoys spending time with his family, friends, church involvement, bible study, and running.

Justin Hillebrand, DPTJustin Hillebrand, PT, DPT

Title:  Physical Therapist

School and Year of Graduation:  Loras College, BA in Sports Science, 2007; Clark College, DPT, 2010

Specialization/Certification:  Justin specializes in treating all types of orthopedic conditions and post surgery recovery. He has a special interest in working with athletes of all levels.  Justin is also certified in ASTYM treatment for chronic muscle and tendon injuries. 

Community/Recreational Activities:  Justin was born and raised in Dyersville, Iowa, and currently resides in Davenport with his wife. In his free time, Justin enjoys spending time in nature, hunting and fishing, attending classic rock concerts and Hawkeye football games. 

Karl Stratman, PTKarl Stratman, PT

Title:  Physical Therapist

School and Year of Graduation:  Truman State University, 1993; St. Ambrose University, MPT, 1997

Specialization/Certification:  Karl is starting his 18th year as a physical therapist and enjoys working with people who have all types of orthopedic conditions.  He has a special interest and expertise in working with people who have shoulder injuries and athletes who require return to throwing programs.  He is also a Back to Golf certified specialist and leads individual and group golf training programs.

Community/Recreational Activities:  Karl is al lifelong resident of Davenport where he lives with with his wife and three children. He enjoys golfing, coaching baseball, and watching the Cubs.  

 

Kirsten Ukleja, PT, DPT, CSMT

Kirsten Ukleja, PT, DPTTitle:  Physical Therapist

School and Year of Graduation:  Saint Louis University, 2009; Saint Louis University, DPT, 2011

Specialization/Certification:  Kirsten received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Saint Louis University. She enjoys treating a variety of orthopedic conditions including shoulder, knee, and foot/ankle as well as post-surgical patients. Kirsten's specialty is treating patients with spinal or radicular pain as she has earned a post-graduate certification of CSMT (Certified Spinal Manual Therapist). As a runner herself, Kirsten enjoys treating patients with athletic injuries and desire to return to running.

Community/Recreational Activities:  Kirsten loves to do any outdoor activity, especially in Colorado, her favorite vacation destination! She enjoys hiking, skiing, tennis, and running.

Mark Pischke OTR/L, CHT

Mark Pischke OTR/L, CHTTitle:  Occupational Therapist

School and Year of Graduation:  St. Ambrose University, 1996; CHT 2003

Specialization/Certification:  Mark obtained his certification as a Board Certified Hand Therapist and has focused his career in orthopedic hand and upper extremity rehabilitation. Mark is certified in the ASTYM system for scar and soft tissue mobilization.  He enjoys treating all cumulative trauma disorders and surgical repairs of the hand, wrist, and elbow.

Community/Recreational Activities:  In his free time, Mark enjoys playing golf, skiing, and spending time with his family.

Mike Green, PTA

Mike Green, PTATitle:  Physical Therapist Assistant

School and Year of Graduation:  St. Ambrose University, 2001; Black Hawk College, PTA, 2005

Specialization/Certification:  Mike enjoys treating all types of orthopedic conditions and specializes in the rehab and return to play of athletes of all levels. He is also a Certified Ergonomic Assessment Specialist assisting in decreasing work injuries.

Community/Recreational Activities:  Mike grew up in Cherokee, Iowa, and now resides in Davenport with his wife and son. He enjoys spending time with family and friends and playing golf.

Scott Dickman, PT, CSCSScott Dickman, PT, MPT, MA, CSCS, OCS

Title:  Physical Therapist

School and Year of Graduation:  University of Northern Iowa, 1994; MA Exercise Science, 1999; University of Iowa, MPT, 1999

Specialization/Certification:  Scott has many years of experience working as a physical therapist and enjoys working with all types of orthopedic conditions. Scott earned his Board Certification in Orthopedics from the American Physical Therapy Association in 2013 and utilizes manual therapy treatment techniques for management of all orthopedic conditions and pathologies. His areas of special interest and expertise include TMJ dysfunction, spinal pathologies, foot and ankle pathologies and orthotics. He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist which provides him with greater expertise for successful rehab and performance improvement of the athlete. He is an active member of the APTA, currently serving as the chair of the ethics committee of the IPTA.

Community/Recreational Activities:  Scott and his wife Janelle reside in Eldridge with their three children. He enjoys spending time with his family, involvement in church, camping, hunting and other outdoor activities.

Kelsey Coon, PT, DPT                                          kelseycoon

Title:  Physical Therapist

School and Year of Graduation:  Iowa State University, 2011; University of Iowa, DPT, 2013

Specialization/Certification:  Kelsey enjoys treating a variety of orthopedic conditions across all age groups. She enjoys the treatment of general orthopedics with an emphasis on manual therapy and exercise.  Kelsey also focuses on and enjoys educating patients during and after therapy interventions for long term benefits and symptom management.

Community/Recreational Activities:  Kelsey is originally from St. Ansgar, a small town in north central Iowa.  She now lives in Moline with her husband, Steve.  In her spare time, Kelsey enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, exercising, and being active outdoors.

Justine Uhl, PT, DPT, CMTjustineuhlphoto

Title:  Physical Therapist

School and Year of Graduation:  Jamestown University, 2008; St. Ambrose University, DPT, 2013

Specialization/Certification:  Justine received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2013 from St. Ambrose University.  She completed an Orthopedic Residency program in 2015 with St. Ambrose University in which she earned her Certificate in manual Therapy.  Justine treats all injuries and conditions, but she particularly enjoys aquatic therapy and treating patients with chronic pain. 

Community/Recreational Activities:  Justine enjoys participating in triathalons, 5k races, and the Bix.  She likes to spend her free time with her family and 2 adorable dogs. 

Marty Barclay, PT, DPT

School and Year of Graduation:  Wartburg College, 1999; St. Ambrose University, DPT, 2014

Specialization/Certification:  After graduating from physical therapy, Marty has become invovled in post-graduate work specializing in orthopedic manual therapies and treatments at St. Ambrose University.  In 2014, Marty presented a case report on a shoulder disorder at the American Academy of Orhopedic Manual Physical Therapists national conference in San Antonio, Texas. 

Community/Recreational Activities:  Marty lives with his wife Briana and their three children in Bettendorf.  He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, running, and going to Hawkeye football games.
