I am passionate about what I do and I want the very best for my patients. I feel it is important that complex arrhythmia patients receive the best care possible from those with the highest level of training...right here in the Quad-Cities.

During my undergraduate years in Canada, I developed a deep appreciation for sciences which led me in the direction of Medicine. My nature has always been to help others in need so Medicine was a perfect fit for me.

After practicing General Medicine, I realized I wanted to become subspecialized and I went back for more training. After eight more years of training (a total of 17 after high school), I became a Cardiac Electrophysiologist. There are 1,200 EP physicians in the country with only 120 being female.

My philosophy of care is to offer patients solutions to their Cardiac/EP problems and help guide them down the road to make the decisions that make the best sense for them. I feel it is important to follow established guidelines for care and I help patients understand current recommendations so they can make an informed decision. I believe in teamwork among all caregivers and feel it is important that all caregivers have a voice in patient care.

One of my greatest passions is advocacy for patient safety. I have long been involved in educating myself and others about the highest standards of patient safety. I get involved in setting policies and procedures to ensure patient treatment is safe and we follow all recommended guidelines. I sit on the Accountable Care Organization for Specialties as well as the Covid-19 Procedural Sub-committee at Genesis.  I always look at the global healthcare picture and not just my specific area. I feel all practitioners need to be good  stewards of their healthcare environment to help achieve and maintain a sustainable system in terms of finances, quality and ethics. I feel that CVM and Genesis is in line with those goals and I am proud to work here.

  • Cardiology/Electrophysiology

Areas Of Interest

  • Cardiac Arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation and other atrial and ventricular arrhythmias
  • Management of heart failure with cardiac devices

I was born in Ontario, Canada and attended Medical School at the University of Toronto. After practicing Family and Emergency Medicine in Canada and the U.S. for a number of years, I trained in Internal Medicine and then obtained a Fellowship in Cardiology at the University of Nebraska. I then obtained a second Fellowship in Cardiac Electrophysiology (EP) at the University of Utah.

An Electrophysiologist (EP) takes care of patients with cardiac arrhythmias with medications, ablative procedures and implantation of devices. I have been a practicing EP since 2009, beginning at Creighton University in Omaha and then at Rapid City, SD. I joined CVM in 2018 after learning about the great opportunity the group and the local health systems have to offer here in the Quad-Cities. I am now the Medical Director of Electrophysiology at Genesis.

My hobbies including cooking, reading, working, live music concerts, and spending time outdoors, hiking and riding my bike (both outdoors and my Peloton).
