As more vaccine becomes available, Genesis has consolidated its Iowa vaccination efforts into the former Dick’s Sporting Goods store at 5250 Elmore Ave., Davenport.
The retail-sized clinic in the new location allows Genesis to reach more patients in a shorter period.
The vaccinations are available by appointment only to eligible Genesis patients. Eligible populations are defined and guided by the Iowa State Health Department and can be found on their website.
Patients are able to schedule their appointments on the MyGenesis Patient Portal. Those who are not on the MyGenesis patient portal can visit www.genesishealth.com/mygenesis to register.
Available appointments and timing will depend on vaccine supply received by the state.
Walk-in vaccinations are not be available. Appointments are required.
“We know people are anxious to speed up the process so it is their turn to be vaccinated. Genesis has the same goal. We want to serve more people efficiently and safely by moving to a larger space,’’ said Kurt Andersen, M.D., senior vice president of physician operations and chief medical officer, Genesis Health System. “The vaccines were developed and were available to the public very quickly but we would all like to speed up the vaccination process.’’
The Genesis clinic has 20 vaccination stations. There are designated waiting and monitoring areas – there is a 15-minute waiting period required following vaccination -- and a selfie station for the newly vaccinated to share their excitement with a photo.
