Sometimes, in the Emergency Department, we have to deliver unfortunate news or treat those who are truly suffering. I hope that what I do may provide someone relief from fear or illness, which is my reason for going to work every day.
I went into medicine to have the opportunity to help people when they most need it; whether it's through diagnosis, performing a necessary medical procedure, providing words of reassurance, giving a hug, offering a prayer, or bringing a smile with a very corny joke. I want to help alleviate illness and fear whenever I can.

I'm a natural born Iowan, raised near Cedar Rapids, and recently moved with my husband to the Quad-Cities area. I love good food, books, the Mississippi River, and putting a smile on the face of those around me. My free time is often spent snuggled up on the couch reading a book or watching reruns of "Star Trek" or the "West Wing" with my cat Dandy... and maybe my husband if we decide to cede him any couch space!
