Retreat Brings Couples Battling Cancer Together

A weekend Couples Retreat open to cancer patients currently receiving treatment or within the past year will be Jan. 25-27, 2013 at Stoney Creek Inn and Conference Center in Moline.

The retreat, hosted by the Genesis Cancer Care Institute and Gilda's Club of the Quad Cities, is free and limited to 20 couples. Room and meals are provided. Participants must register by Dec. 31, 2012.

Keynote speaker will be Scott Burton, an award-winning comedian, world-class juggler and cancer survivor.

This is the second couples retreat made possible by a generous gift to the Genesis Health Services Foundation. The retreat is one of several new programs this gift has funded to help cancer patients and their families.

The retreat will begin at 7 p.m. Jan. 25 and concludes at noon, Jan. 27. Throughout the weekend, activities will include couples yoga, massage, healthy steps, journaling, meditation, art therapy and speakers on sexuality and intimacy and nutrition.

Register by Dec. 31, go to www.gildasclubqc.org or call 563-326-7504.
