Genesis Contracts With All Insurance Companies to Care for Mercer County Residents

Illness and injuries can happen to anyone. Last year, Marge Lloyd was seriously injured when she fell in her home. Marge required surgery and rehabilitation to recover from her injury.

Health insurance coverage enables individuals and families to receive health services while reducing the risk of financial loss in circumstances of serious illness or injury.

"I am so grateful that I can use my local hospital for my health care needs. I received excellent care and they worked directly with my insurance company to submit my claim," said Lloyd.

In February, Genesis Health System closed on the purchase of Mercer County Hospital and Nursing Home. In the months preceding the transition of ownership, the Contracting Insurance staff of Genesis worked diligently to secure contracts with all insurance companies to make sure residents in Mercer County would continue to receive care close to home.

Jim McIntyre carries United Healthcare insurance offered through his employer. Jim recently sought care at Genesis Medical Center, Aledo and all services were covered by his plan.

"We are so pleased Genesis Medical Center, Aledo has made access to health services a priority. If the hospital didn't accept my health insurance it would cause a hardship for my family," said McIntyre.

During the transition, Genesis also recognized the need for growth to meet the needs of the community. In response, new insurance contracts were added to include Cigna, Aetna, and United Healthcare - John Deere Premier to include their members who reside in Mercer County.

Michele McAvoy, Patient Financial Counselor, Genesis Medical Center, Aledo assists patients who have questions about their insurance coverage.
"Our mission is to provide compassionate, quality health services to all those in need. Patients are always welcome to call me or stop by if they have insurance or billing questions," commented McAvoy.
