Genesis Pro-Am Challenge Proceeds Provide Nursing Scholarships

Every shot, good or bad, will benefit the health of the Quad Cities at the 20th annual Genesis Pro-Am Challenge on Aug. 18.

The Genesis Pro-Am Challenge will be played at Crow Valley Golf Club, Bettendorf and TPC Deere Run, Silvis.  Proceeds will benefit the Nursing Scholarship program directed by the Genesis Health Services Foundation.

Title sponsors of the tournament are Lexus of Quad Cities and Quad City Bank & Trust.

Genesis Pro-Am Challenge foursomes will each be paired with a local PGA professional.

LPGA professional Beth Bader, who played at North Scott High School in Eldridge and at Iowa State University, will highlight a pre-tournament event on Aug. 17 at TPC Deere Run from 4-6 p.m.  She will conduct a clinic, followed by hors d’oeuvres and a meet-and-greet gathering.

The entry fee of $250 includes golf with a local PGA Pro, greens and cart fees, course refreshments, entry gift, lunch, the pre-challenge event on Aug. 17 and hors d’oeuvres at the awards reception.

In celebration of the Pro-Am Challenge 20th anniversary, golfers will have the opportunity to win the golf vacation of a lifetime; a seven-day trip for two to play the famous links courses of southwest Ireland.

Golfers will also have a chance to win $20,000 by participating in putting contests at both courses.

Golfers scoring a hole-in-one on designated par-3 holes will win a three-year lease on a 2014 Lexus IS.

In today’s rapidly changing healthcare environment, Genesis nurses must possess advanced patient care and critical thinking abilities. Scholarships provide tuition for nurses to complete a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. Studies have shown when there is a higher percentage of BSN nurses in an organization, patient quality and safety increases.  Funds for the Nursing Scholarship program are raised primarily through the Genesis Pro-Am Challenge.
