Genesis Heart Institute Celebrates 15 Years Of Excellence
The Genesis Heart Institute is celebrating 15 years of innovative and nationally recognized heart care on Valentine’s Day.
Genesis Heart Institute has been recognized twice as a Top 50 Heart Hospital in the U.S. (2010 and 2015) and has been recognized twice for national Summit Awards for heart surgery patient satisfaction (2011 and 2012).
The skilled cardiologists at Genesis, along with Dr. Dale Geiss, the Midwest’s most experienced heart surgeon, offer Genesis Heart Institute patients comprehensive care, including the latest minimally invasive procedures and latest clinical trials.
“The Genesis Heart Institute has saved lives and maintained the quality of life for hundreds of patients since 2000,’’ said Doug Cropper, President and CEO, Genesis Health System. “We’re proud to celebrate the success of one of the top cardiovascular programs in the country, and to celebrate the entire heart team.’’
As part of that celebration, 225 glass hearts will be hung in the atrium of the Genesis Heart Institute at 1236 East Rusholme Street, Davenport. The hearts were designed and made by Hot Glass, a Davenport not-for-profit business, which teaches high school students the craft.
“The heart art display will be a beautiful reminder of care provided every day by the talented heart team here at Genesis,’’ said Ken Croken, vice president of marketing, Genesis Health System. “We are very fortunate for an area this size to have access to high quality, leading-edge care.’’
Genesis will host a heart health fair and celebration on Feb. 14 from 1-3 p.m. Doctors and staff of the Genesis Heart Institute will be available to answer questions and provide information about the latest procedures and treatments available at Genesis.
Cardiologists Jon Robken, M.D., and surgeon Dale Geiss, M.D., will host cardiovascular health presentations.
Congressman Dave Loebsack will participate in a news conference at 1 p.m. to congratulate the Genesis Heart Institute for its Top 50 national ranking.
There will be a heart-healthy nutrition seminar and free Genesis Healthy Heart cookbooks given to the first 50 people who attend.
There have been many highlights and milestones in the 15-year history of the Genesis Heart Institute. Here are a few:
• The first heart program in the Quad Cities to introduce TAVR minimally-invasive aortic valve replacement to the region in 2014.
• By winning two Summit Awards (2011 and 2012), the Genesis cardiovascular surgery team demonstrated patient satisfaction scores ranking in the 95th percentile or above in the Press Ganey database for a minimum of three consecutive years.
• The Genesis heart surgery program has previously received the highest rating from The Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the world's premier organization of cardiothoracic surgeons and researchers.
