Genesis Shootout Returns For 22nd Year

One of the highlight events of the high school sports calendar will return for the 22nd edition on Dec. 19 at Augustana College.

Pairings have been set for the Genesis Shootout in Carver Physical Education Center.  Pleasant Valley and Rock Island, expected to be two of the top prep teams in the region, will play the final game at 8:30 p.m.

Here is the entire Genesis Shootout schedule:

10 a.m. – Davenport North vs. Rock Island Alleman; 11:45  a.m. – Davenport West vs. Riverdale; 1:30 p.m. – Davenport Assumption vs. Geneseo; 3:15 p.m. – Davenport Central vs. Moline; 5 p.m. – North Scott vs. United Township; 6:45 p.m. – Bettendorf vs. Galesburg; 8:30 p.m. – Pleasant Valley vs. Rock Island.

The Genesis Shootout has a rich history of showcasing the top prep basketball players in the region.  This year’s event will continue the tradition with several college recruits and future recruits in the Shootout.

Among the top players returning to the Shootout this season are Pleasant Valley trio Will Carius, a 6-7  first-team all-state selection; Carter Milan, a 6-foot-8 center who was named to the state tournament all-tournament team and 6-6 forward John Czarnecki.  

Rock Island has starting guards Jason Jones and C.J. Neville returning.

All tickets will be $5.
