Genesis Hosts End-of-Life Conference
Genesis Hospice and Genesis Medical Center will host the annual End-of-Life Conference on Friday, April 20 at Waterfront Convention Center, Bettendorf.
The conference is intended to inform medical staff, health care workers, clergy, social workers and hospice and palliative care staff about end of life issues, including grief, hospice care and planning.
Keynote speaker will be Hank Dunn, chaplain. He is also President of A & A Publishers, Inc. Dunn is affiliated with INOVA Loudoun Hospital, Leesburg, Va. He will be speaking at 8 a.m. on the topic “Hard Choices for Loving People: Helping Patients and Families with End-of-Life Decisions.” He will also speak at 2:30 p.m. on the topic “Journey to Letting Be: Emotional and Spiritual Issues at the End of Life.”
There will be a panel discussion at 10:35 a.m.
Topics during the conference will include terminal diagnoses; advance care planning; managing emotions when there is a terminal diagnosis; and bereavement support.
The conference will be held from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Cost is $40 per person, including continental breakfast and lunch. Students are $30.
