Game Preview by Steve Tappa, Shootout Historian

Bettendorf lost its top three scorers from a year ago, most significantly Iowa’s co-Mr. Basketball in Carton, but Coach Curtis Clark is cobbling together another MAC title contender. The top returning threat is 6-foot-7 senior Lucas Hayes, who is weighing Division III college options. The Bulldogs also boast five contributors from a football semifinalist, including returning varsity hoopsters Joe Byrne, Tynan Numkena and Oliver Bakeris plus two transfers who were hard-court regulars at their old schools, Harrison Bey-Buie (Moline sixth man) and Zach Trevino (double-figure scorer at West). New Galesburg coach Ryan Hart also inherits plenty of pieces to make a run at the Western Big 6 Conference title. Among those back for the Silver Streaks are double-figure scorers Jaylin McCants and Eric Price, who earned all-tourney honors at Thanksgiving with super sophomore Alex Egipciaco.
