Game 6 | 5:30 PM | Geneseo (7-1) vs. Central (2-2)

In a classic Genesis Shootout game the Blue Devils triumphed in a game that left Geneseo star Isaiah Rivera bloodied when he hit his chin on the court. In a back and forth battle, far closer than the final score shows, Central took the lead in the middle of the fourth quarter to prevail by a score of 80-66. This win increased Iowa's lead in the Shootout to 5-1.

Geneseo's Rivera scored 31 points and had 10 rebounds along with two blocks on the night. Central's John Miller threw in 29 points and Kaiden Phillips scored 22 points along with 12 boards.

Game Preview by Steve Tappa, Shootout Historian

State-rankings buzz surrounds both Game 6 clubs, and for good reason. Central coach Craig Wurdinger returns four starters from a substate squad, including double-figure scorers John Miller and 6-foot-5 Kaiden Phillips. However, the Blue Devils’ biggest name right now is 6-4 junior Emarion Ellis, who has caught the eye of Iowa’s Fran McCaffery among other college coaches. Ellis gets to prove himself tonight against Geneseo’s Colorado  State-signed All-Stater Isaiah Rivera, whom NBC Sports Chicago calls “the best senior in the state not playing in the Chicagoland area.” But unlike seasons past, the Leafs boast more than Rivera’s 28-point, 10-rebound averages. Long-time coach Brad Storm also counts on third-year letterwinner Jacob McConnell, and experienced juniors such as Kyle Traphagen, P.J. Moser and Kade Ariano.
