DAISY Award Winner - May 2022

Congratulations to our May DAISY Award Winner Emily Schrack, R.N.

Emily is a registered nurse in our Surgical Specialty Unit (SSU), at Genesis Medical Center, East Rusholme Street, Davenport.

Here's what Emily's nominator had to say about her:

During my first contact with Emily, I was in terrible pain, extremely anxious, and disoriented from surgery. My two sisters were in my room and lovingly pounced on Emily, looking for answers from about 30 family members. She answered so professionally and calmly while simultaneously making me feel safe and pain-free handling the three different drugs. She also arranged for my regular medications to be sent up in minutes and talked to family members on the phone. She took great care of me by adapting to my personality and my different family members. For 12 hours, she walked me through a challenging time, step by step, allowing me to place myself in her hands entirely and confidently and calmly. I have gone through numerous medical situations in my 70 years but never encountered anyone like Emily. With her total professionalism, kindness, and caring, she used her ability to adapt to every person and situation to begin my healing and provide me with a sense of calm. Emily, you are a fantastic nurse and effortlessly offered me an exceptional, healing environment that I will always be grateful for and never forget.

The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day.
